The Clara Barton Hospital Foundation is excited to announce that Peoples Bank and Trust has stepped forward as the lead donor for their Adopt a Room campaign, helping to provide funding for the upcoming expansion of the Great Bend clinic. For the past six years, Clara Barton Medical Clinic – Great Bend has been located in Jackson Square occupying a 2,300 sq. ft. area. Many patients can attest that the current clinic is much too small and agree the additional space will greatly increase the clinic’s efficiency and comfort for both patients and staff. In efforts to continue providing patients with the best possible care, Clara Barton Medical Clinic – Great Bend will be expanding with the addition of a brand-new clinic located on McKinley Street in Great Bend, just east of Dillons.

“This wonderful gift from Peoples Bank and Trust is a testament to their remarkable generosity and commitment to build relationships and broaden resources for the communities they serve,” said Michelle Moshier, Clara Barton Foundation Director. “Community Bank has been longtime friends and supporters of Clara Barton Hospital and Clinics and the merger of these two banks has proven to further exemplify their dedication and involvement in the communities they serve. We are so grateful for their participation in our Adopt a Room campaign.”

Peoples Bank and Trust recently acquired Community Bank of the Midwest, making the official transition on February 22nd. Their commitment to the Great Bend community has been strong over the years and will continue to strengthen while providing support for the community both inside and out. As the lead donor in the Adopt a Room campaign, Peoples Bank and Trust will not only fund the furnishings of the lobby area in the new clinic but will help seamlessly integrate the family practice and surgical services into one convenient clinic experience. The new lobby area will provide a spacious and comfortable waiting area for both family practice and surgical clinic patients, making them feel right at home.

“At Peoples Bank and Trust, our mission is to impact the communities we serve. We believe the new clinic will be great asset to the Great Bend community, and we are proud to be a lead donor for the Adopt a Room campaign,” said Brian Wilborn, Great Bend Market President.

Currently, the old Beaver Express and Montana Mikes buildings are located on the property purchased by Clara Barton Hospital and Clinics. Demolition of those two buildings began earlier this month and groundbreaking for the building of the new clinic is slated to begin summer of 2021.

“I have heard our patients and staff expressing the need for additional space and square footage for quite some time now”, said Blackwell. “We have made some excellent new additions to our medical team including Family Practice Physician Dr. Kyle Renner, and are excited for the arrival of Dr. Roxanne Stiles, who is a General Surgeon joining the Clara Barton family this summer. Because of these new additions, this was the perfect time to invest in the expansion of our Great Bend clinic and give both our staff and patients room to breathe.”

The new 10,000 sq. ft. clinic will be home to both primary care and surgical services and is set to open in spring of 2022. It will include 18 exam rooms and 2 procedure rooms, which is a large enhancement from their current clinic that only houses 5 patient rooms and 1 procedure room.

“The new clinic will be much larger than our existing clinic allowing for a more comfortable clinic setting for patients as well as providing our surgical team their very own space,” said Blackwell. “Currently our surgical services staff are only able to see patients one day a week in Great Bend as they have to share the few patient rooms with primary care. This expansion will allow both primary care and surgical services to both operate out of the clinic at the same time.”

Not only will the new location provide more space, but it will also be situated in a prime location allowing easy access for patients.

“While we know patients are thrilled to have the opportunity to be seen in Great Bend, we also understand that our current location can sometimes be hard to find,” said Blackwell. “This new location will provide convenience for our patients, as it will be easily visible, right off 10th Street. We are thrilled at the opportunities this new location will offer our patients as we strive to give them a safe and comfortable place to receive care.”

Clara Barton Medical Clinic – Great Bend offers a wide variety of services including acute care, walk-in lab draws, immunizations, DOT physicals, wellness exams, athletic physicals, and much more. Additionally, the Surgical Services team provides pre- and post-operative consultations, preventative screenings, and minor procedures.

To help furnish and supply the clinic with needed equipment, the hospital enlisted the help of the Clara Barton Hospital Foundation. In response, the Foundation has recently launched their Adopt A Room campaign, giving donors the opportunity to adopt one of the many patient rooms in the new clinic expansion, funding furnishings and equipment while receiving recognition for their sponsorship on the outside of each room.

“We are excited to be part of a creative fundraising effort that inspires donations from the community, corporations and individuals,” said Moshier. “Our Adopt A Room campaign comes with a variety of levels that will give any business or individual the opportunity to enhance healthcare services in the Great Bend community, while also receiving recognition or memorializing a loved one.”

The Foundation is focused on investing and raising funds to update medical equipment, aiding in the creation of innovative programs that meet the emerging needs for patients. Through the generosity of supporters, the Clara Barton organization is able to stay current and to continue to grow.
