Clara Barton Medical Center (CBMC) is pleased to welcome Dr. Savannah Bender to its medical team as a family medicine physician. Having completed a medical school rotation at Clara Barton, Dr. Bender is already familiar with the organization and its team and is excited to return to begin her career providing compassionate, comprehensive care for patients of all ages.
Originally from Wichita, Dr. Bender earned her undergraduate degree from Emporia State University before attending the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at St. Mary’s Family Medicine Residency in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Her previous rotation at Clara Barton gave Dr. Bender firsthand experience with the welcoming culture and supportive team. She was drawn to the opportunity to return to a close-knit rural community where she can care for patients in both the clinic and hospital settings.
“I enjoy the variety that family medicine offers and the opportunity to care for patients throughout every stage of life,” said Dr. Bender. “One of the things I enjoy most is building relationships with my patients and getting to know them as people, not just as patients. I’m excited to bring that approach to Clara Barton and be part of a team that truly cares about the people we serve.”
Dr. Bender’s clinical interests include obesity and lifestyle medicine, women’s health, geriatrics and mental health and enjoys performing a variety of office procedures, including Nexplanon and IUD placement, skin lesion removals, and joint and trigger point injections. Dr. Bender plans to soon become board-certified in obesity medicine.
Dr. Bender believes family medicine is about looking at the whole person and helping patients take care of their health in a way that works for them. She enjoys working with patients to set realistic goals, answer their questions and help them feel confident in their care. With her wide range of interests in family medicine, Dr. Bender looks forward to caring for patients of all ages and helping them stay healthy through every stage of life.
“We’re very excited to welcome Dr. Bender to the Clara Barton team,” said Jay Tusten, CEO of Clara Barton Medical Center. “Her broad interests in family medicine and her commitment to building lasting relationships with her patients make her a great addition to our medical team. We’re looking forward to having her here and seeing the difference she will make for our patients and the communities we serve.”
Outside of medicine, Dr. Bender enjoys spending time outdoors, especially hiking, with her husband and their two rescue dogs, Smokey and Sadie. She also enjoys board games and hosting game nights with family and friends.
Dr. Bender is now accepting new patients at both the Hoisington and Great Bend clinic locations, and CBMC looks forward to the care she will provide for patients throughout Barton County and beyond. If you would like to make an appointment, call 620-653-2386.
